who needs cake

I was griping because I was out of town and wouldn't get to take advantage of my birthday landing on a Friday night this year. But really, can another random night at the bar truly compete with the delegation of enthusiastic 11 year-olds belting out 'happy birthday to you' as they jostle for hugs and compliments outside your hotel room door? Maybe I'm getting old, but I don't think it can.
